Low Income Family Furniture Essentials Support

The LIFFE Support Program is designed specifically to provide support for basic household needs to low income families to help build comfortable, liveable homes.

A high percentage of our families do not possess furniture or household items, resulting in this program that assists families in securing adequate furnishings for their needs. It is not uncommon for a volunteer to find adults and children sleeping and eating on the floor. Through donations from the Calgary community we are able to provide families with all of the necessary items to set up an apartment - everything from a can opener to a bed and linens.

Important Facts

  • All of the donations are given out to clients and families - FREE of charge.
  • Furniture items that are requested by the client are delivered directly to their homes -
    • FREE of charge.
  • All of the donations that are accepted through this program come from the Calgary community. This includes individuals, clubs, businesses, and other social service agencies.
  • NeighbourLink believes in the principle of valuing people. With this principle we endeavour to only give out furniture and household items that are in good repair.

Donations
If you would like to make a donation of household goods to the L.I.F.F.E. Support program please call the donation line at 403-538-7395. We encourage you to drop your donations off at the warehouse during open hours: Monday to Thursday 9am-3pm and Friday noon-3pm. We are closed weekends and ask that you please do not make any unattended drop-offs. We are located at 3751-21 Street NE. We do operate a pick-up service but charges may apply. We reserve the right to refuse any donation.

Items you can Donate:
The following is a guideline for good quality used items that are acceptable. For more information you can call the donation line at 403-538-7395.

  • Bedroom Furniture: boxsprings and mattresses, all sizes, bed frame, bedside table, dressers, toddler bed frame and mattress
  • Kitchen Furniture: kitchen tables and chairs
  • Living Room Furniture: couches, chairs, end tables, coffee tables, lamps
  • Kitchen Goods: full sets of dishes, drinking glasses, pots and pans, mixing bowls, casserole dishes, baking dishes, full sets of cutlery, can opener
  • Bedroom Goods: sheet sets all sizes, blankets, comforters, quilts, pillows
  • Bathroom Goods: towels, bath mats
  • Other: small desks, vacuum cleaners, microwaves (no older than 5 years), washer and dryer, toaster, coffee maker, garbage cans, small bookcases
